Course Description
Mysticism is the direct, immediate experience of the Ultimate Reality. In this class, we will explore the meaning of mysticism, the meaning of Ultimate Reality and the practices that have been created for mystical experience in five of the world's religions: Hinduism, Mahayana Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity and Sufi Islam.
Instructor
Margaret Riordan
Riordan received her Ph.D. from Syracuse University in Religious Social Movements and Feminist Theory 1998. She was ordained by the Interfaith Theological Seminary as an Interfaith Contemplative Minister in 1998. She has been a faculty member at Everett Community College since 1994 and has been teaching World Religions for 10 years. Previously, she was faculty at Goddard College in Vermont. Riordan also has a private practice in interfaith spiritual direction and teaches classes in meditation and spirituality.
